First you need to view the configuration of your Firefox Browser. To view it, let this page be open as you will need it, open a new tab and type about:config in the address bar.

Speed Up Firefox Browser

In “Filter”, type and find the following lines. Right click on these preference names and click on Modify or Toggle to change the values.

network.http.max-connections-per-server (change its value to 32)

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy (change its value to 16)

network.http.max-connections (change its value to 64)

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server (change its value  to 10)

network.http.pipelining (toggle its value and make it true)

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests (change its value to 200)

network.http.request.max-start-delay (change its value to 0)

network.http.proxy.pipelining (Toggle its value and make it true)

network.http.proxy.version (change its value to 1.0)

All the modifications are done now. The last step is to add a new value. To do this, right click anywhere and select New Integer. Name it as nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0. This the time the browser takes to respond to the HTTP requests.

I got everything except the last one. When I name it, it just says ok and the pop up stays there. Thanks for this!

Can you see a new preference name created with value “0″?

  • Life Below Zero

No, it doesn’t create the new integer, but everything else worked and it did speed up my Firefox! Hooray!

    • Lalit Indoria

I’m glad that it did speed up your Firefox Browser, the last line is to increase the responding time and I have tried it personally and I could create the Integer! Anyway mission accomplished.. Cheers!

Nice article ,Lalit but it has nice speed but less than chrome

    • Lalit Indoria

I don’t prefer Chrome because it doesn’t respond for a long time and causes irritation :) but still many people can rely on it.. :D

I have tried every possible thing with Firefox but result is the same, the best version was 3.6 and after that even 4 is not good… I would say Chrome is the best , though its just a skin on IE but good with speed and performance…

I also got the first one and it works. Firefox may perform well if the internet connection is faster. You made a great article Lalit as always. Thanks!

I use to have Firefox browser because it is more reliable to use, I think the speed of Firefox browser it is depends upon to your internet connection, how fast it is.
