What is Rooting?

Rooting is a process by which you gain access to the system files of your Android OS. Manufacturers don’t really let you do that but using some rooting tools you can access the system files on your Android device and hence customize your phone and also install apps which require rooting. The benefits and disadvantages of rooting should also be considered before you proceed.

Why Should You Root Samsung Galaxy R?

The advantages of rooting Samsung Galaxy R are quite many in number, though I have listed a few of them below:

  • Rooting lets you customize your device in a much better way as you can access the root files of Android OS.
  • You can remove system apps which we usually refer as Sammy Bloatware :P This helps you free up space on your phone
  • Convert the file system of current RFS to the faster ext4 file formats
  • Convert Downloaded apps to system Apps
  • Installing Custom ROMs is the best advantage of rooting Samsung Galaxy R

Why Should You not Root Samsung Galaxy R?

You lose the warranty of your phone, though you don’t need to think about this if you bought the device more than a year back. Also, there are chances that you might brick your phone perhaps while you install custom ROMs when the phone gets stuck in a particular mode. You better follow the instructions carefully ;)

DisclaimerBlogoTech is not responsible for any damage that might be caused to your device during this process though the possibility of any damage is negligible. Try this at your own risk. Also note, rooting your phone will void your warranty.

Prerequisites

  • Make sure you have backed up all of your apps to the SD Card. You can use ASTRO File Manager for the same.
  • Back up contacts and SMS to the SD Card.
  • Disable all Anti-virus and security tools as this might prove to be a hindrance in the process to root Samsung Galaxy R

Steps to Root Samsung Galaxy R

  1. After following the prerequisites mentioned in the previous page, download the rooting package and extract the contents of the package using the password “blogotechblog.com”
    Root Samsung Galaxy R
  2. From the contents of the package, open Odin.
  3. Turn off your phone and enter into download mode. To do this,  Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
  4. After this, connect your phone to the PC via USB Cable. When you do this, the ID:Com section in Odin should turn yellow. This means you have installed all the drivers successfully. If it does not turn yellow, do not proceed to the next step and download KIES. (I have connected two phones in this step and hence two ports turn yellow)
    Root Samsung Galaxy R I9003
  5. In Odin, click on the PDA tab and select the file “GalaxyR_i9103_RootingTAR_AAD” which must be present in the folder containing the extracted files.

    • The file is with the developers and the link can be obtained only when he uploads it. However, you can unroot using Superoneclick too. Let me know if it works!

  21. Meijs1997 says:

ive used superoneclick to unroot my phone. Superuser is gone and the root apps said im not rooted. the only problem is that a warning triangle is still visible when I boot up. is there a way to fix that?

  22. Meijs1997 says:

when i try to install it, it says: “parse error.
there is a problem parsing the package.” is there another app or something to disable that warning triangle? (ps im not rooted)

  23. Meijs1997 says:

Ive looked the app up in the playstore and it says its not compatible with my device. I think i just wait until ics is released. Maybe that will fix it.
